How to use Symbol Factory .NET

Symbol Factory .NET is a .NET software component which is produced by Software Toolbox Inc., and which used for adding animated objects from a library of over 3,600 industrial and manufacturing objects into your Visual Studio.NET software applications.

Symbol Factory .NET is built around .NET Framework 2.0, so VB.NET and C# in Visual Studio 2008 and 2005 are supported.

Software Toolbox has not provided a fast and simple online help to tell either developers or users how to use Symbol Factory .NET, but only you can find some help information from their package which is in Microsoft Word format.

The following is the setting steps which from a developer's real experience:

1: If you get the Symbol Factory .NET package which is from whatever you download or you received from their support team, you will see the following folders, and copy these folders to any folder which you want:

For example: you copy these folders to the folder : E:\Tony\ConspecTerminal\SFNet

2: IF you have already a .reg file just like above image shown, double click the .reg file and just modify registry "InstallDIR" value followed the following steps, but you still have to know how to open Windows Registry, so keep to read; (IF you do not have a .reg file, don't worry, just continue), Open your Windows XP or Vista or Windows 7 registry, if you don't know how to open, see following:

3: Now you opened the Windows Registry, you have to add a new item :

This registry key must be:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Software Toolbox\Symbol Factory .NET<SF.NET Version>

Where <SF.NET Version> is the current version of SF.NET, for example:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Software Toolbox\Symbol Factory .NET\2.0.1.221

4: Then under that key, there must be a string value "InstallDir" which contains the path to the main destination directory.

If you want to change, then right click and select "Modify":

5: Input the correct folder for your case.

6: Done.
